Happy Axe

Dream Punching posits an alternate reality where trip hop, violin, musical saw, and beat-driven dream pop grow wild in the ground, waiting for trained masters like Happy Axe to dig them up, arrange them and trim them into perfect sonic bonsai.

After touring Japan in July and being nominated for two National Live Music Awards in October, Happy Axe has now accomplished a body of work that builds on the ideas of place explored in her debut EP, 'This Topia'. Dream Punching has a sound-pallete of vocals, saw and violin, chopped, re-pitched, and crafted into experimental pop songs. This will be a once-only launch night performance where Happy Axe is joined on stage by an entourage of some of Canberra's favourite sound making musicians.

TEEM

TEEM is the new project from Michael Bones and Miller Rouse, a pair of multi-instrumentalist bedroom producers working from Canberra.
Their sound is built by tangling guitar loops and razor wire riffs over big beats, synths and choral vocals. Part pop part not, TEEM straddles indie and hip-hop with just enough of a stretch to make it feel good.

Toby Graham

After years playing contemporary folk music, written primarily for just guitar and voice, Toby Graham’s music now requires a four-piece band and sounds as rooted in Pop, Jazz and Electronic music as in Folk. his new project 'Boroky' aims to express the fracturing of reality and sense of bewilderment experienced by young Australians, as well as the importance of ethics in times of fear and doubt. Ultimately, Boroky is a cry of hope for a better world. Lyrically, it explores some of the stranger facets of what it means to be human, do good, be honest, love, have a mental illness, have sex and die, as well as a bunch of interesting facts about fish. Musically, its infuences range from Renaissance choral music to the LA Beat Scene, introducing a variety of rhythm and harmony to the pop idiom in an attempt to make something deeply beautiful and fun. Does it succeed?
