Young Pasifika Day Showcase

Young-Pasifika Day is an event where secondary school students of Canberra are given the opportunity to learn about the importance of cultural identity in a way that encourages them to excel in education. Throughout the day students will be hearing from people within the Pacific Island community of Canberra who will share on their cultural identity and how it has impacted their life. Students will also be to showcasing their talents in the performing arts, as well as demonstrating their literacy skills in the categories of public speaking to the judges on the day.

Our evening event is an opportunity for family, friends, staff of the participating schools, and the broader community to see the work of the students who participated in day event. Finalists in the categories of Talent Quest, Speeches and Wearable Arts will be showcasing their work on the night.  We also have a special performance by the Canberra Tongan Uniting Church Choir, followed by an award ceremony of which representatives of our Pacific Island Embassy’s will participate in.

We invite you all to join us as we celebrate the young people of the Pacific here in our region. Tickets are limited so make sure you book in fast.
