The Street Theatre will hold preliminary auditions in late October 2016 for all work to be produced in 2017. These auditions are also an opportunity for us to meet actors, emerging, newly graduated or already working in Canberra, we haven’t met before.

To be eligible for these auditions you need to:

  • be 18 years or older
  • be Canberra-based or within 100km radius
  • hold relevant tertiary qualification,  or professional or independent experience

The works programmed cover a broad span of roles for men and women of all ages.  The Street encourages applications from performers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and performers with disabilities. The Street has work programmed throughout 2017 with the first and final works outlined below.
The first production Cold Light dates are as follows:
Rehearsals: 30th January – 3rd March 2017
Performance Season:  4TH – 18TH March 2017

Robert Menzies (56) Prime Minister of Australia doubles as Scraper (56) lawyer badly disfigured in WWI, Gough Whitlam (56)  Prime Minister of Australia, George T McDowell  (56) Australian businessman, childhood friend of Edith, Yizhar  (25) a young Israeli colonel, Waiter and Party Goer

 Actors will be called individually in thirty-minute sessions. You are expected to perform a four minute piece of your choice.  Selected scenes from work to be produced may be provided for you to prepare prior to the audition. There will be a reader present.
