The Vampires
With Fabian Hevia, Chris Abrahams & Shannon Barnett
The Vampires celebrate their 20-year anniversary, joining with three long-time collaborators: percussionist Fabian Hevia (featured on Chellowdene and Garfish), pianist Chris Abrahams of The Necks (whose acclaimed collaboration on Nightjar won the 2023 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album), and Cologne based trombonist Shannon Barnett, who appeared on South Coasting, Chellowdene and Garfish.
Since forming in 2005, The Vampires have carved a unique sound that blends hypnotic grooves, lush horn melodies and global influences into their unmistakable brand of “genre-hopping creativity” (The Guardian). Short-listed for the Australian Music Prize, the band has built a reputation as one of Australia’s most distinctive creative forces. This milestone concert will trace their rich history while opening fresh terrain through the inventive voices of some of the country’s most original musicians.
