Join Satendra Nandan with Professor Frank Bongiorno, Professor of History, ANU and President of the Council for the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences who will launch the volume.
The evening will be chaired by Emeritus Professor Peter Putnis, University of Canberra.
Emeritus Professor Will Christie ANU will present a talk ON POETRY and Readings from the volume will be given by Sara-Lynne Simpson and Gitanjali Nandan.
Satendra will conclude with an appreciation and a reading.
Drinks will be available from the bar on arrival. Poems 1975-2025 Waves In The Wounded Sea will be available for purchase at a special launch price.

Satendra Nandan’s first book of poems, Faces in a Village was published in New Delhi in 1975. His collected poems, The Loneliness of Islands was published in Fiji in 2007. POEMS : 1975-2025 Waves in the Wounded Sea is an anthology of his complete poems. His poetry has been described as epical, prophetic, visionary, lyrical and beautifully moving about his indentured ancestors, beyond national boundaries. Born in Fiji, with an indentured heritage, Satendra became the first Labour Member of Parliament in Fiji and was a cabinet minister in Dr Timoci Bavadra’s Labour Coalition Government until the military coup on 14 May, 1987. Satendra has the last legitimate words, on that fateful day, recorded in Fiji Hansard. Satendra Nandan now lives in Canberra with his wife Jyoti.
