Canberra Wind Symphony: Blown Away
The outstanding Canberra Wind Symphony returns to The Street for a tour de force of Wind Symphony repertoire. Under the baton of their multi-awarded Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, Geoff Grey, the orchestra will display in breathtaking fashion why their motto is Captivating, Engaging, Brilliant!
Featuring seminal works from extraordinary composers, this exciting evening features diverse colours and gorgeous textures from the pens of Antonin Dvorak, Alfred Reed, Yosuke Fukuda, Oscar Navarro, James Swearingen, Percy Grainger and David Maslanka, and features a national wind Premiere composed by Australian Sean O'Boyle. This memorable event promises to enthral all who dare to open their minds for enchantment.
The international Canberra Wind Symphony presents music created for its medium by the finest writers, showcasing the stunningly thrilling sounds this instrumental combination produces. A popular feature of their 20th and 21st century repertoire is works by Australian composers. The freshest contributor to the international wind music colloquy, the Canberra Wind Symphony doesn’t just ‘put on concerts’ for audiences – you’re our guests and we’re all in this together!
As a foundation principle the orchestra supports philanthropy through the arts. For each ticketed performance a substantial donation is made to beyondblue to assist with their work in tackling depression amongst Australia’s farmers.
