Impro ACT: Parallel
A unique play, offering three simultaneously performed and parallel perspectives on a chosen theme* (see below).
Three pairs of specialist improvisational actors, each performing their unscripted perspective on the same stage at the same time, seamlessly compliment, blend, or juxtapose, each other’s stories. In a literal sense, each inhabits only the world of their own perspective, but may become useful in each other’s worlds as barriers, props, symbols, elements.
What would it be like to see such a play, if you already felt you knew each of the actors, and you already felt you knew their personal attitudes, fears, and joys? What would it be like, if you had seen the process of rehearsal and knew what they were trying to achieve? And then you saw them as characters in the play, rather than as themselves?
In Act I of Parallel, we see an authentic rehearsal towards the theme, structure and skillsets of the play, with actors informing the audience directly about what they thinking, internally, during the rehearsal. You know how actors are, right? Sometimes, these thoughts may not be pretty. You’ll understand what on Earth it might mean to ‘rehearse’ an unscripted play.
In Act II; the play itself. The audience is left with not only three perspectives on the theme, but three realities of each individual performer; the human, the actor, and the character.
* Themes will be different each night and have been determined by online audience surveys.
Street Two - unreserved | Duration - 120 minutes incl. interval.
