Tripping Up That Hill

Winner - 2026 Sydney Fringe Guest Award
Nominated - Best Comedy - 2026 Newcastle Fringe
Nominated - Best Newcomer - 2026 Newcastle Fringe

From one-half of Canberra’s ukulele comedy duo – Sparrow-Folk – comes Tripping Up That Hill. A whimsical, cabaret comedy where the wine bottle of romantic ideals spills on the carpet of reality.

Tripping Up That Hill is Catherine Crowley’s solo cabaret comedy. The show blends humorous honest stories with catchy quirky songs, physical mishaps and a generous splash of Kate Bush.

Tripping Up That Hill is an entertaining exploration of life through a romantic lens that constantly collides with reality. Relatable and real, it’s like sharing a wine with a friend who laughs, spills their glass and somehow turns every mess into a song.

After a sell-out season at the Newcastle Fringe, former Canberra local, Catherine Crowley, returns to where it all began at The Street Theatre.

Catherine Crowley is an actor, improviser, comedian and ukulele-wielding wonder. She has toured Australia for more than a decade with award-winning comedy duo Sparrow-Folk, appeared on stage and screen, and hosted the Newcastle Ukulele Festival.
