CIMF: Magic Realism
O Spectabiles Viri is a significant work composed by Hildegard von Bingen that combines soaring melodies with rich harmonies, showing her ability to convey profound emotional depth through music. Here we depart from the original male choir version to hear a contemporary and magical reinterpretation of the work by soprano Jane Sheldon arranged by Erkki Veltheim.
Then Aboriginal elder Mark Atkins and Finnish -Australian artist Erkki Veltheim create an immersive auditory journey that blurs the lines between dream and reality, day and night in the musical collaboration Mungangga Garlagula -blending breath, voice, and sound to create a deeply visceral experience.
