Kristin Berardi: Just As You Are

Informed by life as award-winning jazz vocalist Kristin Berardi lives it, Just As You Are captures through song moments in her life -both happening to her and to those around her.  From entering the funny intimate world of a complete stranger in a NY laundromat, to riffs with girlfriends on the happiness that is yellow, to pain shared amongst a group of friends,  her compositions remind us that every single moment  we experience is worthy of our appreciation.

The Kristin Berardi Band consists of some of Australia's leading and most exciting jazz musicians and Kristin has made this album to capture this particular line-up.  Through Berardi’s original compositions and unique contributions from each other member, revealed is personally-charged composition, technical  mastery, emotional depth, effortless improvisation, as well as some much loved jazz standards with adventurous treatments.

Greg Coffin- piano, Carl Morgan -guitar, Brett Hirst - bass, Tim Firth -drums and Kristin Berardi- voice, comprise this band, of  three National Jazz Award winners.  All of these members teach privately and or at universities around the country, either as guests or as members of staff.  The Band has had the honour of playing at the Sydney Opera House, in "The Studio" as part of the Sydney Festival, The Java Jazz Festival, The Melbourne International Jazz Festival, the Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival, the Jazzgroove Festival, and at the Tank Arts Centre in Cairns.  The accolades which the members of the group have received are as follows (received between 2006-2015):  The Montreux Jazz Festival International Vocal competition Winner,  one Winner of the prestigous Freedman Fellowship, and two finalists for the Freedman Fellowship, three winners of the National Jazz Award for Jazz, one ARIA nominated album, and two Bell Award winners. 

This group may have many awards in their midst however, it's their musical offering which is the real highlight, as this group is comprised by such skilled musicians and keen improvisers that the journey and delivery of the songs are very much in the moment.  Seize the day and live this dynamic and intuitive ensemble when The Kristin Berardi Band returns to Canberra to launch their hot off the press second album Just As You Are as part of a national tour.
