The Whitlams 2016
Sweet and sombre tales charged with emotional are set to spill out when The Whitlams return to Canberra, for another brilliant display of music making as Tim, Jak, Warwick & Terepai get together to play all of The Whitlams’ favourites.
Triple Aria winners and beloved piano alt-rockers forever championing audiences who care about lyrics, in 1998 The Whitlams won ‘Best Group’, as well as ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Best Independent Release’ for their third album Eternal Nightcap. More recently this album was voted no. 17 in “JJJ’s Hottest Australian Albums of All Time”.
The Whitlams recorded output spans seven albums since 1993, and includes the double platinum Love This City, the No. 1 Torch the Moon and their Truth, Beauty & A Picture of You – Best of The Whitlams which sat in the Top 10 for six weeks running.
We’ve settled into a pattern of going around the country as a four-piece once every 12 months,” explains founding member and singer-songwriter Tim Freedman. “It’s the most raucous three weeks of the year for me and it can’t come around too soon.”
The band will be performing material from across their seven-album discography on the tour.

“The Whitlams put on a superb performance at the Tivoli tonight. Years of touring have meant that their shows are immensely polished and professional yet still remain personal and light-hearted. They certainly showed why they have been such a long-standing force in the Australian music scene.” – FasterLouder
