Poetic City: SlamCity Showcase

Come for a night of poetic partying! The stars of CanberraSlam will be out tonight and shining with full force, including 2022 Finale winner Yleia Mariano, alongside special feature Waffle IronGirl.

And you can shine too! Sign up on the night for one of the highly desirable slam spots and be part of the action.

The founder and host of Canberra Slam, Andrew Cox will host some of the most exciting poets to appear in Canberra Slam’s 18 month life so far: Matt Phung, Nat Amiel, Yleia Mariano, Angus Verzeilberg, and more! Plus pre-and post-event drinks and music in the Street Foyer.

Waffle IronGirl, aka Es Foong, is a poet and performer, living and working on the land of the Wurundjeri people. Their poems have appeared in Rabbit Poetry, Kalliope X and the Best of Australian Poems 2022. They want you to know that you are a wild, precious and unique expression of possibility and you are cherished. Their debut poetry collection, “Clot and Marrow” is out in September 2023 from Recent Work Press. Find them at waffleirongirl.com.
