Canberra Wind Symphony: April in Paris

The second voyage in the 2016 beyondblue Concert Series sees the outstanding Canberra Wind Symphony take to their home stage of the wonderful Street Theatre for a trip through Gay Paree and beyond into the lush French countryside; travelling with Camille Saint-Saëns, Claude Debussy, Jacques Offenbach, Paul Dubois, Georges Bizet, Maurice Ravel and George Gershwin.

The French sound is one of passion, grandeur, ooh-lah-lah and perhaps a little decadence. It has, well … a certain je ne sais quoi! Rich and lustrous harmonies thrive in the environments of the great impressionist and modern French composers; paying homage to the excitement and flair of the French lifestyle.

The international Canberra Wind Symphony presents music created for its medium by the finest writers, showcasing the stunningly thrilling sounds this instrumental combination produces. Experience the captivating and engaging brilliance of forty passionate professional artists interactively sharing their love of live music performance with you. The freshest contributor to the international wind music colloquy, the Canberra Wind Symphony doesn’t just ‘put on concerts’ for audiences – you’re our guests and we’re all in this together!

As a foundation principle the orchestra supports philanthropy through the arts. For each ticketed performance a substantial donation is made to beyondblue to assist with their work in tackling depression amongst Australia’s farmers.

Partnerships are available to provide ‘Pay-it-forward’ free tix for those who may not be able to afford high-calibre live music. Click here for more information.
