CIIF Melomania
If we don’t know where we’re going, why hurry?
By Feña Ortalli (Argentina via Spain)
Melomania is an abnormally excessive passion for music.
Feña Ortalli believes that we talk too much and say too little, and this was the starting for Melomania, which is the inspiring performance resulting from his four-session intensive with Festival participant improvisers.
Responding to music as the regular catalyst for a variety of spontaneous theatrical vignettes, improvising actors will convey so much with very few words.
Festival Director, Nick Byrne, performed in a similar process conducted by Ortalli for the TILT festival in Estonia, and remembering the sheer joy that was the uplifting experience produced by the performers there, he knew that Canberra audiences would experience the same pleasure.
